Social Bookmarking and the Online Home Based Business Opportunity

Those of us who have been in Internet Marketing for awhile know the value of link popularity for an online home based business opportunity webpage. It is the webpage with he most relevant links that usually does the best and gets the coveted #1 spot in the search engines. There are many ways to develop the number of links necessary to beat your competition. Many of these are yet to be discovered. There is one very powerful idea that has come to the forefront that may be just as important as the stalwart blog and ping. It is called Social Bookmarking.

The mechanism of social bookmarking for any online home based business opportunity is a simple one. It involves submission of multiple blog posts, articles, webpages, and even links to forum posts if that is what is desired. It is much like submitting an artile to an article directory. It is much, much simpler. The accumulation of outgoing links from a Social Bookmark account profile is where the PR (Priority Ranking) is developed over time. Of course the posts are relevant to the web pages they point to. They act just like a link page, accept you never have to go out and look for the link partners, and you do not need to reciprocate. They are just like articles, one way links.

Popular Social Bookmarking Sites include:

As multiple groups of pages accumulate for your account as a result of your consistant contributions, more of these accumulated pages are created that link directly to your web pages.

Then they get discovered by others. This is the social aspect of Social Bookmarking. Take digg.com for example. You perform the initial post, put in some comments, and, not in the case of Digg but in the case of other sites, put in some keyword tags. What you have is a very large collection of news items and articles all rolled into one large site. It is kind of like having a thousand or more article directories in one.

In comes the surfer, like me, looking for content, and he/she finds it. He/She wants to include it in there own personal collection because of relevance, and add it to their bookmark collection. It does not take PR away from your webpages, it feeds PR to your webpages, and lots of it.

So now, not only do I have the post in my own profile page, it now occurs in someone elses, and it points from their profile list of social bookmark posts directly to my webpage. This can occur thousands of times in a Social Bookmarking Site. When it does, there is a great deal of power generated back to your webpages. The number of links increase as a result of the effort of others, PR increases, and so does SE placement. Can it get any simpler to promote any online home based business opportunity?

How Blogs Can Help You With Your Online Business

1. With a blog, you can easily brand yourself as an expert in your subject area and promote yourself all over the net. Blogs have taken a life of its own, and there are many blog directories springing to life.

Each blog directory is classified according to various topics of interest, and you can submit your blog to the major blog directories.

You can then easily attract readers to your area of specialisation, and slowly brand yourself
as the expert from the many readers who visit these blog directories each day.

2. Search engine will rank your web site higher if you have a blog on your site. This is because search engine "spider bots" like fresh content, and with a blog, you can just spend 5 - 10 mins per day posting what you want to share for that day and that's it.

Do that on a consistent basis, and the search engine spider bots will come back to your site more
often. Having a blog on your own site is so simple my 9 year old cousin can do it, and you will
learn how in my multimedia course.

3. Blogs allow you to build and foster a closer relationship with your visitors and readers,
building trust and rapport. Blogs allow readers to post comments, and it promotes interaction.

With good relationship with your readers it will be easier for you when it comes to recommending
products and services because they trust you.

4.Blogs are a one stop push button publishing system.
You can easily set up a blog with Google's Blogger in three easy steps. Likewise, now that Wordpress has offered free Wordpress blog accounts, you can again easily set up your free Wordpress account.

With a blogging account, you can easily publish anything online, unlike the usual way of publishing where you have to create and edit the page using some web site editing software and uploading it to your hosting account.

And with Wordpress, you can instantly link all your posts and pages together, unlike your standard web site where you have to link web pages manually.

Blog saves time and is a quick and easy way to build an online presence.

5. Incoming Links
Blogs, especially Wordpress blogs has a feature called trackback. Trackback basically allows someone to post a comment on another person's blog with a link
pointing back to your own blog.

This is one way to get incoming links to your site. And we know that the more incoming links you have to your site, the higher your site will rank for certain keywords.

These are just some of the powerful ways Blogs can help with your online business.

These are just some reasons how blogs can help you in your online business.

Blogs-Why Do People Blog?

Blogs are becoming very popular. The rate at which the numbers are increasing is mind-boggling. Why is this happening? Why every body wants to create a blog? Who else will read that blog? If everyone is busy writing his/her blog why and when will they get time to search for other blogs and read them? Because of this over population and density, will blogging become another failure? Is it a fad, which will pass away? Let us examine?

Why do people blog? Most of the people write blogs to express themselves. They are sure that on their blog they will get what they want printed. If they write articles or columns for newspapers they may or may not get printed. Writing a blog gives the power to each of us to get printed immediately. I personally write my blog to express myself freely and feel good to see that what I wrote got printed immediately.

Another reason of writing in a blog and website is freedom of design, layout and structure. Blogging gives this freedom. It does not need navigation architecture designs of a website nor a structured menu. You write and get printed - as simple as that. This has a flip side also. In a website one can lay out the information in an easy to access and read format. You can lead your reader to a particular page in a website. You cannot do that on your blog.

Do blogs get read? How does one popularize one's blog? These are difficult questions to answer. For most of us, it is difficult to find time and submit our blog in the increasing number of directories. It is also difficult to make sure that our blog will get one of top rankings in a search. Only the search engines know the secret of that and others only speculate. If we try to read the articles written on this subject, not only the quantity but the difference of opinions will leave most of us tired, frustrated and undecided. One more issue- before you decide that you would want to popularize your blog, please think - whether you search for blogs and read them? A lot many of us are so busy writing our own blogs, that we find no time looking for others. Why should this not apply to our potential readers?

Whatever the pros and cons of blogging, one outcome is certain. Blogs give us the opportunity of writing what we want and get it printed.

Six Linkbaiting Ideas To Get More Traffic To Your Site

Theres been a lot of talk about LinkBaiting in the blogosphere, and Id like to weigh in.

First a little background: Google gives more ranking weight to what they call authoritative sites and pages. It defines those sites as having many outbound and inbound links. So now having links to your site is important to your success online. More simply, inbound links also drive traffic to your site.

So now we have link exchanges and link sales and link finding software. We have free articles on anything you could possibly think of that all contain links back to the author
s site. There are 437 free articles in my Inbox right now, including Rubber Floor Mats or Carpet Floor Mats and The Lowdown on Laminating Film.

LinkBaiting is viral marketing for links, and we love viral marketing. Like all viral marketing, the goal is to get people to write about and pass around your link so that you get free exposure and traffic. You need to give people a reason to mention you in their blog or on their website, and you need something newsworthy or at least write-worthy to get a news source to mention you.

The best treatise on LinkBaiting comes from Nick Wilson on Performancing.com. Nick says that all good LinkBaiting relies on a hook, and he
s come up with different hook categories:

News hook
Contrary Hook
Attack Hook
Resource Hook
Humour Hook

The goal is to offer something so unique and mentionable that other sites will link to your site for free. Other sites will see that mention and add their own in true Viral Marketing fashion. Making you think? Me too.

Here are six LinkBaiting ideas:

1. Come up with a simple free tool for people in your subject area to use, and spread it around.
2. Watch the RSS feeds like a hawk. Jump on and cover a good news story. Comment on a blog or two to get things rolling. This has worked for me.
3. Write a funny list or post in your subject area.
4. Find some funny pics related to your subject area.
5. Come up with some original research (the 10 Most Profitable Programs on Commission Junction This Week was the most popular post on my blog).
6. Give away a free web template, WordPress plugin or graphics file.

Whatever you choose to do, remember that Viral Marketing needs an index case. So go plant the virus somewhere, like at a prominent blog site or two in your niche, or at a forum site, or both.

Traffic Generation Secrets Through Tagging

Traffic Generation Secrets Through Tagging

Have you picked up all the buzz about Tag and Ping? Tag And Ping is the most recent craze hitting the internet - bringing instant exposure and back back links to sites. A whole new system of getting information, and a whole new ballgame for webmasters to play!
Tagging is a new system to mark things on the internet. In the ancient days search engines would spider a web-site and determine what it was about; with tagging, people determine what the content is about and "tag it". This tag then serves the purpose as a short description of a webpage, or the category it fits in.

This brings about a whole new way for web page owners to find out what people are searching for, and then creating pages that are deserving of attention, and easy to find. Bookmarking pages are a great method for web page owners to do research. Just take a look at popular tags and then look at what pages are being bookmarked the most. Pay attention to those pages to get an idea of what you should be writing about. Put a new twist on it and you will find that your web page will gain in popularity as well. Bookmark pages are also great for figuring out new subjects to write your own information products about. They are also good for figuring out new niches to jump into.

After you have tagged info you ping the tag-search-engines and they rapidly come and index your pages according to the tags. You then appear at the top of the listing until somebody else creates other pages for that tag.

No more relying on old obsolete search engine algorithms. Real individuals tagging real sites bringing real targeted traffic. No more squandering time looking through search engines for relevant information. Just enter your key phrases and see what other individuals have found interesting!

The growth of tagging has brought about the term "Social Book-Marking". individuals are now starting to create bookmarks on central websites, instead of on their private computers. individuals surfing the web "tag" the sites they find newsworthy and they then appear on bookmark search engines. Other individuals interested in the same subjects can then come and find real pages, voted for by real humans.

If you are creating a web-page for a "hot" tag that everybody is searching for, you'll get instant highly targeted traffic! Not only this, but the main search engines pick up on the tags and you will get back back-links from the engines with the tag listings!

If you missed out on the "blog and ping" wave you will want to get in ahead of time. Tag and ping is going to be a massive trend and is shifting the face of the web forever. Find out more about the technique that has all the underground experts in a dizzy tizz:

Blogging for Profit in 30 Minutes

By Thomas Gilles

Blogging has become a widely popular activity in the past several years. First, for those unfamiliar,

What is a blog?

A weblog, which is usually shortened to blog, is a website where regular entries are made (such as in a journal or diary) and presented in reverse chronological order. Blogs often offer commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual although many focus on photographs, videos or audio. The word blog can also be used as a verb, meaning adding an entry to a blog.

Many companies and individuals who wish to promote the sale of their products online offer affiliate programs. If there are successful sales of products using your affiliate ID, you will then receive appropriate renumeration as stated in the affiliate agreement.

The range of payment can be anywhere between 1 US cent to US$100 per sale, depending on the product and the program.
Once you decide which affiliate program you'd like to join, all you need to do is sign up for free. When your registration as an affiliate is complete, you can start adding affiliate codes in to your weblog.

Blogging For Internet Newbies

Blogs means different things to different people: to journalists they are unofficial sources of information, to the ordinary Joe they are an Online diary or forum, to repressive governments they are subversive and a threat and to the Internet marketer they are a marketing tool!

Starting as humble "Web Logs" kept by Internet Geeks, blogs have moved fast to occupy center ground. A good example of what a professional quality blog can look like is Jim Edward's blog http://www.igottatellyou.com/blog/

This is not a diary entry this is entertainment!

Jim Edwards is an experienced journalist and user of multi media. But Newbies can learn some great lessons from this site. The obvious thing is that Jim Edwards character jumps off the page! You can do this. You have a character too! You have interests, passions, obsessions even!

And why would Jim Edwards provide first class information and entertainment at no cost? Because you will keep going to his blog and you will learn about the books Jim has written. Maybe you would even buy one! Very nice "un-pushy" advertising.

The importance of Blogs to the Newbie will take a while to become clear. For now I just want to say that a blog is a website. You can enter whatever text you desire, pictures too! You can allow other people to contribute if you want (I'd recommend against that unless you review and moderate the content!)

For anyone who is nervous about building a website or about getting content for a Newsletter or eZine, having a blog is a perfect practise tool to build up confidence and material

How to get started

Internet Newbies who wish to start Blogging must first find Blogging software.
The three main varieties of blog software are
1. Blogger, free and very easy technically
2. Wordpress, free ( and priceless as Wordpress fans remark ! )
3. Typepad, monthly charge
4. Squarespace, monthly charge

We will use the free one – Blogger. which is very "Newbie friendly"

First visit Blogger http://www.blogger.com/home

You find yourself at what I call the front page of Blogger and what Blogger calls "The Dashboard".

Now use the "Create a Blog" button. You are then asked for a Title or name for the blog and then a web name. The name should reflect the desired subject matter of your blog and the web name is probably going to be shorter and conform to the usual rules – no spaces etc.

Mostly people Blog either by going to http://www.blogger.com/home and entering their password and username clicking on New Post and just typing straight in or by downloading the Google Tool Bar with the little orange Blogger button. To get this, go to Google.com and click on the "more" link on the right. You will find the little orange Blogger button and can download it and install it.

You may have the Google Toolbar already. In Internet Explorer, click on View and then on Toolbars, if you see Google there tick it and use it, otherwise you need to download it. The exact details may depend on the version of Windows you have etc.

After opening an account at Blogger jot down a few notes, Remember this is a website, the whole world will be able to read it so don't put anything in it that you might regret!

Happy Blogging!

If you want to build a business on the Web Blogging is a good place to start. You get used to writing and when you click the little orange "Blogger" button your words will be "live on the internet".

Before we end this "Newbie Guide To Blogging" lets just comment on Adsense.

When you sign up for a Blogger blog you will be able to add "Adsense" to the blog. This is a clever form of advertising and in principle can earn you money when a reader clicks on one of the Ads". If you have a high traffic blog with thousand of visitors per month it is true that income from such advertising can be substantial – earning hundreds or even thousands of dollars. For the Newbie Adsense is just a distraction in my view and is not likely to earn a substantial income.

If you can use a blog and add to it regularly and build an archive of content you may soon be ready to think of putting a website together and that for most people is much more lucrative.

How To Make Money From Blogs

The number of blogs has risen from a few thousand in 2004 to hundreds of thousands today. And when anything grows at this pace there has to be a reason. And just in case if you are still guessing the reasons, then you have probably denied yourself the opportunity of making thousands of dollars with a least minimum effort.
Income Sources for bloggers:

1. Ads: This is the most common way that blogs make money. But blogs have come a long way from Adsense and BlogAds. That was a time when these were the only available options but now there are many other ways getting ads for your blogs and one of the most favored is Chitika
s eMiniMalls. Others include Adgenta, Adbrite, AVN etc.

2. Sponsorships: Not many people had explored this avenue of revenue generation for blogs until recently when suddenly both, the bloggers as well as the companies realized that blogs could be an excellent way to advertise and sell their products. The sponsorships are generally on per-post basis.

3. Affiliate Programs: You can tie-up with various affiliate programs like Amazon.com, Clickbank.com, Linkshare.com etc. But these are not just the affiliates but they are just a few amongst the thousands that exist ranging from very small to very large.

4. Services: Bloggers can also make money by selling different types of stuff on their blogs or by providing services like eBooks or some courses or tele-seminars etc.

5. Writing blogs: There are people who need someone to write and post new material on their blogs regularly. If you have enough time then you can make money by writing for someone else
s blog. And if you have the proper knowledge of SEO then you can make a really cool amount of money doing so.

6. Though I won
t suggest you to take up this kind of earning method but recently I came across a couple of blogs that were actually making money from whatever people donated to them. They were offering eBooks and mp3s for free respectively. And well the option of how much to pay was open for visitors. You could even download stuff without paying even a penny.

7. Retailing: Of late there have been blogs that have been trying to sell merchandise too. You can find on sale objects like t-shirts, pottery, designer glassware and other stuffs like that. Though they have not seen much success, but with more publicity and better software support they are bound to become a huge success.

8. Consultancy: It is quite common for experts to start their own blogs for their own promotion but the trend has nowadays spilled over to bloggers with absolutely no background in consultancy making huge amounts of money by charging their visitors and clients in consulting business. This is more so because of the kind of reputation that they have built with their blogs. Blogs have the kind of power that can make you an expert on a certain topic overnight. Being an expert in a certain field can surely make you an overnight celebrity and quite rich too.

So guys happy blogging and money making. Hope even you now don
t miss out on all these numerous money making opportunities that blogs have thrown upon us.
