THINK AND GROW RICH

What of the man who has neither the time, nor the inclination to study failure in search of knowledge that may lead to success? Where and how is he to learn the art converting defeat into stepping-stones to opportunity?

The answer called for a description of thirteen principles, but remember, as you read, the answer you may be seeking, to the questions, which have caused you to ponder over the strangeness of life, may be found in your own mind. through some idea, plan, or purpose which may spring into your mind as you read.

One sound idea is all that you need to achieve success. The principles described in this book contain the best, and most practical of all that is known, concerning ways and means of creating useful ideas.

Before we go any further in our approach to the description of these principles, we believe you are entitled to receive this important suggestion…When Riches Begin to Come They Come So Quickly, In Such Great Abundance, That One Wonders Where They Have Been Hiding During All Those Lean Years. This is an astounding statement, and all the more so, when we take into consideration the popular belief, that riches come only to those who work hard and long.

When you begin to think and Grow Rich, you will observe that riches begin with a state of mind, with definiteness of purpose, with little or no hard work. You and every other person ought to be interested in knowing how to acquire that state of mind, which will attract riches. I spent twenty – five years in research, analysing more than 25,000 people, because I, too, wanted to know how wealthy men become that way.

Without that research you would not be reading this.

Observe very closely, as soon as you master the principles of this philosophy, and begin to follow the instructions for applying those principles, your financial state will begin to improve, and everything you touch will begin to transmute itself into an asset for your benefit. Impossible? Not at all.

One of the main weaknesses of mankind is the average man’s familiarity with the word impossible .He knows all the rules which will not work. He knows all the things, which cannot be done. This book was written for those who seek the rules, which have made others successful, and are willing to stake everything on those rules.

Success comes to those who become Success Conscious.

Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become Failure Conscious.

Another weakness found in altogether too many people, is the habit of measuring everything, and everyone, by their own impressions and beliefs. Some, who will read this, will believe that no one can Think and Grow Rich. They cannot think in terms of riches, because their thought habits have been steeped in poverty, want, misery, failure, and defeat.

A prominent Chinese, who came to America to be educated in the American way. He was asked what had impressed him as being the most noticeable characteristic of the American people.

“Why” the Chinaman exclaimed, “ the queer slant of your eyes.”

What do we say about the Chinese?

We refuse to believe that which we do not understand. We foolishly believe that our own limitations are the proper measure of limitations. Sure, the other fellow’s eyes are off slant because they are not the same as our own.

I am sure you wish to learn more about this great secret. Yes? Then I suggest you take a peek at my website www.thatcertainway.com and don’t forget I am giving away the book Think and Grow Rich. Starting a Home Business? Start with what you know.

Bob Cortez

The most frequently asked question I receive as an Internet home business consultant usually goes something like this; "I would really like to start my own home business on the Internet, but I don't know what." The short answer is - Start with what you know and enjoy.

There are a number of good reasons for this

By drawing on existing knowledge, you can concentrate on building a business rather than learning about a new trade, product, or service.

Starting and running a home business means long hours and sacrifice. It is easier to do when you are doing something you enjoy.

Selling what you know and enjoy is less difficult for non-salespeople. Selling what you know and enjoy is less difficult for non-salespeople.
The Internet offers unique opportunities for the home business netrepreneur. It creates the ability to reach a much larger potential market for your product, service, or information at a much lower price than through conventional advertising mediums.

The Internet and World Wide Web are still in their infancy. Right now, you can get everything you need to put your business online - free. It is like someone offering you a store (web hosting), full time staff (web pages, auto responders) and advertising (lots of advertising) for free. All you have to do is come up with an idea for a product or service to put in the store.

One of my favorite examples is my mother's home business. She builds very creative and unique birdhouses. She uses scrap lumber from a local sawmill (free) and driftwood from the local beach (free), to keep her material costs low. Another local artist provides the miniature sculptures for a percentage of the sales. She started by building and selling these for the local tourist trade in Homer Alaska, and was doing ok. But when we put them on the Internet (http://www.ptialaska.net/~cortez/) sales really began to soar. Not everyone that would be interested in the birdhouses can afford to visit Homer, and we certainly couldn't afford to advertise to the world in any other way. We were able to reach this larger market by using free web hosting, design, and promotion services. Once we developed a flow of traffic, we were able to create additional income streams by selling other peoples products as well. (I'll discuss this further later in this article)

This business model can work for just about any product that can be shipped. What unique item can you build using local materials? Do you have a craft or gift idea that is unique? How about a kit or plans for something you have built?

Information is another type of product. What do you know or know how to do that would be of interest or value to others? You can either sell that information as a report, or a tip booklet. Or you can give the information away at your store and sell other peoples related products for a commission. The advantage here is that once you put your information in the store it is done. You don't have to keep building it and shipping it. If your not comfortable with writing your own material you can use a ghostwriter (http://www.home-work.net).

Another home business opportunity that is unique to the Internet is based on common interests. What do you have a special interest in that others may share? Music, books, computers, cars, gardening, collectibles, etc…? The idea in this business model is to create a site with information and resources available online of interest to others. Then you select products to sell of interest to people that would be visiting your site. For instance, if you had an avid interest in a particular type of music. You could develop a site that was a resource for others with that same interest. The site could include links to artists sites, reviews of the latest releases, concert tour information, photos, sound clips, interview excerpts, a chat room, or discussion board. You become an "associate" of one of the CD distributors online and receive a commission on CD's that are sold. The distributor does the entire order fulfillment. The number and variety of companies that have an associate program online is growing daily. They cover all kinds of products and services from gifts to computers or web hosting to credit cards.

Start with what you know, apply some imagination, and open your low cost home business online. The market is growing everyday - world wide.

How to Make a Treasure Board!

complied and submitted by Sherri Caldwell

These ideas where shared and complied from the Work At Home Mom's (WAHM) Mailing list.

I wanted to put up a big rectangle of corkboard for Zach to put all his art projects and special things on (he is a big collector of little pieces of scrap--stickers, tickets, pictures, etc.), but my husband was totally against the idea of pushpins for a 2 1/2 year old, which actually makes a lot of sense.. so I asked for alternatives from the WAHM Mailing List. This is a compilation of those alternative. Enjoy!

1. Maybe this is too crazy - but how about a piece of sheet metal and fridge magnets? I think you can get this pretty inexpensively at the hardware, building-type stores.

2. I may have an idea to the alternative to push pins. At church in the class rooms on the chalk board,(actually dry erase boards) they have these clips that you can hang pictures for the lessons. I was thinking that if you had a section of wall that you wanted to use, you could take and string yarn or other string across at different horizontal lengths, (like a clothes line) and Zack could use clothes pins to hang his works of art or treasures. Let me know if this sounds like a good idea. I myself am going to get enough of that cork board to cover a section of the wall. I figure if it is up high enough, the kids won't bother it. But my idea I just gave you could be a good alternative (?)

3. Try velcro. You can get the kind that has a sticky backing. I get mine at Wal-Mart or a fabric store. You could stick (or glue for permanence) one side to the cork board and stick the other side to the paper your son wants to display. You wouldn't even need cork board. You could use a piece of poster board.

4. There is this stuff at Wal-Mart and similar stores which is kind of like putty that you can hang posters and such on walls and is removable. I can't think of the name of it but I think it is in the office/school supply department with the push pins. I don't know if it would work on corkboard, but you could give it a try.

5. Wow. Listen to your husband on this one. Did you know that tacks, if swallowed by a little one, can stick in the throat and act like a valve? Like, it can let the air out of the little person, then flip closed when he tries to breath in. It will work the same way if someone is trying to give CPR. Tacks are terribly dangerous.

As an alternative, how about that stuff that is like clay. You pull a piece of it off, and it acts like clay. Or maybe some double sided tape. You could save a little money here, instead of buying a cork board, maybe a nice large, decorated poster board.

Hope you find something that works. It's important to make their space their space!

6. Sorry, I don't know the name of this but most any teacher could probably tell you. There is a restickable glue (similar to that used in post-it notes as well as a substance that looks like putty and is also reusable for tacking things up. You may need to get a white board for Zach instead of a corkboard but probably any good teacher supply or office supply store could help! Secondly, you could make a felt board and use a glue like Aleene's Tack It Over and Over.

7. Glue velcro to the backs, and have a felt board, I am also told it you have the right cover on the board (possibly also felt) and put a swipe of rubber cement on the photo, it will stick. Maybe the back was a laminant. I can't remember. Then, theres the old "gum" method. Most craft stores sell a product that sort of looks like gum, and it is intended to hold posters on the wall. You cannot use it on certain painted walls, tho. I got some at Wal-Mart and it works!! It was in the school/office supplies.

8. Criss-cross your corkboard with several strips of ribbon, securing them tightly to the back of the corkboard. This works especially well if you pad the board (doesn't have to be cork) with foam and cover that with a decorative fabric; then criss-cross the ribbons diagonally. Then your son slides his pictures in behind the ribbon. (I saw this on an episode of Martha Stewart - must have been sick that day...)

9. Use self sticking velcro. You can put strips of velcro on the board, and then cut squares in the part that sticks to the velcro. The velcro has adhesive on both sides so it can be attached to anything. YOu can get it at any fabric store and it usually runs $1.00 for about 3 feet. If you need more info on this, please let me know. It is kinda hard to explain using words.

10. Older mom here. My baby is now 18 LOL. Try using the poster board stickum like they use in college dorms now. And instead of a cork board use a dry message board.

11. I just read your problem about where to tack you son's collection. You could display them on a metallic board or the fridge with rubber magnets. My son loves to play with the variety of rubbers magnets on our fridge. Just a thought.

12. How about gluing all of his scraps and things onto posterboard and making an ongoing collage. My 2&1/2 year old loves to cut (with safe scissors) and glue paper.

13. Sherri, 3m has some tackie tape that you can buy. I've used on walls and it doesn't remove the paint or hurt the finish. I got them at a teacher learning type of store. I'm sure you can get them at Wal-mart or some sort of art supply store.

14. I took poster board and glued clothes pins to it then let the kids use fabric paints (that is what I had on hand at the time) to decorate the clothes pins. Works great! Have used them for 3 or 4 years now)

15. I know you or some other creative people could help with exactly what metal object, such as the side of a big filing cabinet. I personally do not like to clutter my refrigerator and could understand why no one else would want to.

My idea was when my school age children were younger, we put all their things in view by the family at all times on the side of our big upright freezer with MAGNETS. Kids love all kind of magnets. Collecting them as well as what they hang with them. You can get big strong ones for those heavy projects. There are so many different kinds and you can always make projects with magnets as well. My children always enjoyed playing with the magnets. They would arrange little scenes, or if the magnets were cars, a pretend road was made. Magnets can be purchased everywhere and sometimes in their favorite cartoon character or animal. The freezer was not something that mattered as far as any scratches, not that they ever made any. They knew the refrigerator was "off limits" except for the few things I hang there for reminders.

Train Your Brain This New Years

Its that time again when people start thinking about their New Years Resolutions. Usually they involve, losing weight, quitting smoking, and joining a gym, just to mention a few.

What about you? What News Year Resolution have you planned for this year?

Have you considered the benefits of improving your mind? Usually, this is the last thing people consider, but in reality it
s one of the best things you can do for yourself and those around you.

People who want to build their muscles know that it takes time to work on specific areas in order for the muscles to develop properly and these same people will pay big bucks to join the local gym to work on these areas and yet they forget to invest in things that will enrich their minds.

By enriching your mind and building yourself up mentally you will be able to challenge yourself to take on other areas of your life that need improvement. Your life is influenced by your thought processes.

You can learn to build up the muscles in your mind, so to speak, and strengthen your inner man with positive goal producing thoughts.

Most New Year Resolutions fail, mainly because people do not have the proper mind set to set proper goals and lack the ability to make a roadmap that will lead them to success.

What is it you want for you and your family next year? Doesn
t investing in yourself by improving your mind make sense.

You don
t need to spend thousands of dollars in order to benefit from the great motivators of the world. People such as Jim Rohn, Brian Tracy and Les Brown can be heard via your computer for about the cost of a cup of coffee per day!

What are you waiting for?

Make this year the best year ever by investing in your mind!

Why Re-invent the Light bulb?

Have you ever had a problem with a burned light? Thanks to the effort of Thomas Edison we no longer need to invent a light bulb. We just go to the store or our cupboard and pull one out and screw it in. Voila! Light!

I am sure you realize that it took Thomas Edison many, many tries before he perfected the light bulb. Someone asked him one day if he grew discouraged by his failures. He answered,
I havent failed, Ive discovered one more way how not to make a light bulb.

You see, there is no such thing as failure, there are only results. Someone once said that the definition of Insanity is to do something over and over again and get the same results.

In order for our life to work properly we need to make some changes to the things we are doing.

Just like a light can burn out, so can we. Life can become dark and depressing and we feel there is no light, no hope in sight. It
s a fairly dismal picture for sure.

Let me shine some light on this situation (pun intended). When we are feeling so low and deep in the pits, this is when we need light to see our way through. Some of us are lucky enough to have some light on hand, others must go out and retrieve it.

Many people try and invent light for themselves by thinking positive thoughts but it only takes them so far. It only gives so much light. There is more light available but people are at a quandary as to how to obtain it.

We don
t have to be like Thomas Edison and keep looking at the problem and thinking of ways to solve them.

For every problem there is a Solution.

How do we find the solution? We can try, as we said, to try and figure it out by ourselves, or we can find someone who has already surpassed this obstacle and do what they did.

There are many books on the market today that can help us to understand how to overcome the obstacles in our lives. We need to read and learn from the failures of other people. They have been through it all before and can help to teach us how to go through it now. There have been great thinkers in our history and we are fortunate enough to have their trail to follow.

We all need more light in our life. Sometimes we can
t see the light at the end of the tunnel but there is always hope and help.

Learn how others have overcome their challenges and keep that education inside of you so that when you are feeling low and life looks dim, you can pull out those resources to help you light up your life again.

Don
t try to re-invent the light bulb, Learn how to carry the light within yourselves.

Keep Your Eyes on a Goal to Stay Motivated

What will keep you motivated toward your goal? The answer, keep your eyes on it. Never lose site of what you are working toward. Look at the picture and the reward you will reap when you finally reach your goal. Goals seem so far in the future and so hard to reach unless you break them down into small steps that allow you to track your progress.

Action creates motivation, so if you want to stay motivated, stay actively working on that goal. The more you work on it, the more motivated it keeps you. In addition, remember, there is an attractive prize at the end, whether it
s weight loss, better health or a project you want to accomplish.

Setting goals in small steps can keep you motivated to continue toward the big project. Make the goals so they can be charted and you can watch the progress of what you
re working toward. Make concrete goals that are measurable. If youre writing a book, set a goal to complete a chapter a week, or a day if you have the time to do it. Set a goal for the month such as I want to write 15 chapters this month. At the end of the month, you can look at your manuscript and see if you made your goal. If you did, make it a little higher for the next month. Stretch yourself but be practical. If the coming month has two holidays, three birthdays and two public appearances, then cut back on the goal so you can reach it. If your goals are set too high, it can be frustrating if you are not reaching them and you are more likely to give up. They also shouldnt be too easy, a challenge will keep you motivated to keep typing away on those pages with the end of the book in mind.

Are you having fun while working toward your goal? We need a break from a project, even if it
s something we want with all our heart. If you are working on a weight loss and exercise goal, vary what youre doing. If you always use a stationary bike each day, why not change the routine and map out a mile or two to walk in your neighborhood. They say variety is the spice of life and it can keep your motivation going if you change your timetable around a little bit. Are you used to studying or writing in the evening? Try waking up early in the morning and spending quiet time before the busyness of the day takes over.

Involve your friends and family in your project. You are more likely to stay motivated if you have told someone what your goals are. If you are exercising or walking, find a partner. It will make it much more probable that you will continue to walk at a specified time and go to the gym. If you fail to show up, your partner will motivate you to come the next time. You are held accountable to someone else. If you are working alone, if you decide to not exercise or not write, you will only have yourself to shake things up and give you the push you need to get started again.

Don
t let discouragement take your eyes off the final goal. Sure, if were dieting there are going to be times when we fall off the eating plan. Instead of getting mad or discouraged, simply accept it as something that happens to everyone and go on to the next day. Dont get down on yourself or feel guilty or ashamed. Enjoy that dessert and remind yourself of the bigger goal of being in the perfect bathing suit by summer. Have you not worked on your graduate thesis for a week? Enjoy your time off, remember what youre working for, and work harder when you start up again.

Expect to reach a point when your plateau on a weigh loss program, get bored with the great American novel you are writing, or get tired of depriving yourself of some wants to save for that dream vacation. When you reach that point, accept it, know that it happens to everyone and if you don
t allow discouragement to set in, you can soon pick up where you left off.

Don
t beat yourself up if you dont make your goals, set new ones, and keep your eyes on the final prize, that one big goal you have been working for and then enjoy your life.

5 Tips To Supercharge Your Motivation

Motivation is the driving force behind life-enhancing change. It comes from knowing exactly what you want to do and having an insatiable, burning desire to do whats necessary to get it. It keeps your dream on track as it is the power of motivation that keeps you going when the going gets tough.

Here
s 5 top tips to help you supercharge your motivation:

1. Create a picture board and fill it with images of your desired goals. The car you want to own, the house you want to live in, the area where you want to live yes, they
re the obvious ones. Others could be pictures of holiday destinations, trophies, first-class travel tickets, clothes you want to buy, fine restaurants you want to frequent whatever you can think of that gets your pulse racing.

2. GET ANGRY. If you want to change your life for the better then get angry about where you
re at now. Having a blas attitude towards change isnt whats needed and it wont create a strong desire within you. So ask: Why do I want to change? Is it because youre FED UP with debts? Does your job DRIVE YOU CRAZY? Is your life DULL AND PRECITABLE? Are you SICK AND TIRED of doing the same thing week in week out? Are you BORED BEYOND BELIEF by the dull, uninspiring, unhappy people you associate with? THEN GET ANGRY ABOUT IT. And I mean REAL ANGRY. Write it all down, all of the frustrating, unrewarding, miserable lot of it that makes every day a dull slog until your final days. IS THAT WHAT YOU WANT?

3. Speaking of your final days, start to appreciate the value of time. Time is one of the most precious resources you have and it is also a NON RENEWABLE resource. You can either use it fully or squander it. If you want to create change you
re going to have to invest a lot of time to make it happen. Start to reduce the time you waste on irrelevancies: Television, newspapers, lie-ins, weekends spent shopping, partying, dining out, visiting an endless line of relatives and friends these wont help you get what you want and all of them will rob time from you. Valuable time that you can use much more effectively by investing it in YOU. Remember this: You have a finite amount of time here on Earth. You dont know how much time you have no one does. But its how you use the time you have that counts. So make your time count and that means starting from right NOW.

4. Conformity. Are you a mindless little sheep who
s way too timid to pursue your own way? Do you have to follow where everyone else goes, doing exactly what everyone else does and therefore, who gets the same levels of happiness as all the other little sheep? Seriously, does this describe YOU? Are you too frightened to be different than all of the other sheep because they wouldnt like it if you decided to follow a different path? So you dutifully trot along following all the other sheep because if theyre doing it then thats how it is right? But if you do what everyone else does youll just get what everyone else gets. Do you want to be a mindless, timid little sheep who blindly follows all the other sheep? Or do you want to be a leader, a warrior who possesses the courage to be uniquely you and to do what you want to do and make your dreams happen? If so then this means you have to be more like a tiger than a sheep. Do you really want to be a sheep? I mean, havent we got enough sheep already?

5. Fear your fear. Fear is the force that is determined to stop you in your tracks and rob your dreams from you. But it can only do this if you let it. Are you going to let this cruel destructive charlatan trample on your dreams, steal your happiness and crush your spirit? Imagine this thought haunting your final days:
I didnt do the things I wanted because I was too frightened to live. And by then, itll be far too late to conquer fear. Refuse to let fear spoil your life and start taking action now!

The world is waiting for your unique gifts. Why keep it waiting any longer?
